JEAN PIERRE RAYNAUD

Sous Tension

Published on the occasion of the exhibition Jean-Pierre Raynaud – Sous Tension at the gallery in 2001, this catalogue invites you to discover the artist’s works devoted to the flags of the former Soviet Union. These works are part of a series of work initiated in 1998 on the exclusive theme of the flag, whereas it leaves the political world to acquire the status of an artwork, as a «Raynaud Object ».
Definitely pop and playful with its red and yellow cover echoing the former Soviet Union flags, this catalogue includes an interview of Jean-Pierre Raynaud by Jérôme Sans, by then co-Director of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
It also encloses the picture of the original cover of Tintin in Soviet’s land, testifying the friendship between the artist and Hergé.

JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT

TEMOIGNAGE 1977-1988

Penck, René Ricard, Andy Warhol… Their poems and writings, sometimes never published before, turn this one-of-a-kind catalogue into a reference for many professionals.

It also gathers more than 70 illustrations, including aside the reproductions of drawings and paintings created by Basquiat from 1977 through 1988, photographs of the artist by Tseng Kwong Chi, Louis Jammes, Jérôme Schlomoff and Andy Warhol.

FRANCESCO CLEMENTE

THE PAINTINGS OF THE GATE

This very beautiful catalogue with an original design offers the extraordinary opportunity to discover the series The Paintings of the Gate, paintings realized by Clemente in Taos, New Mexico, in 1996, and exhibited at the gallery in 1997. The style of the catalogue honours the artist’s genuine and sophisticate work; with its lined curtain cover on which the painter’s name is engraved, it seems handmade.

The essay Les Portes de la Peinture (The Gates of Painting) by the writer and art theorician Démosthènes Davvetas places Clemente in the XXth Century artistic context, bringing out the origins of his creation to focus his analysis on the series.
