Do I Need A Lift?
galerie jerome de noirmont

exhibition release

As the Representative of the Keith Haring Estate in France, Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont brings its support to the restoration of the Keith Haring fresco at Paris Necker Hospital.  Considered as one of the artist’s major works, this fresco displays his commitment towards children and disease.  It also affirms his wish to bring art to everyone’s doorstep.

It is with this idea in mind and with the collaboration of the famous French TV presenter, from Paris Première, Alexandra Golovanoff, that an exhibition-event will take place on Friday, March 2nd, at Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont.
A series of grimacing portraits of personalities from the fashion industry, photographed by Alexandra Golovanoff, will be exhibited. The entire funds raised from the sales of the exhibition will be donated directly to Necker Hospital for the restoration of the Keith Haring fresco.

I started this series of photos in March 2011.  I had been thinking about it for a moment without really putting myself into it.
At a party one night, helped by the ambient euphoria, I decided to go ahead with it.
I wanted to show another face of the fashion industry.
Between humour, self-mockery and letting-yourself-go, these current vanities are full of the humanity of a people usually worried (if not obsessed) with image, beauty and perfection.
I like this shift and I infinitely appreciated these fleeting moments spent with each one of them: some were anxious, others died with laughter, few were particularly gifted and it was difficult to select only one grimace, and for others, it was a true effort.
And fundamentally what pleased me the most was that no one refused.
It’s a gallery of unusual and subjective portraits, of people who I like and who I admire.
